We opted to add-in a visit to a private beach at the Sea of Cortez on our first full day in Mexico. It was about an hour's drive North of our compound in Ahome, much of it on a dirt road.
The ocean was warm, with a gentle slope from the sandy beach that would allow us to wade out pretty far. We got sunburned any place that wasn't covered or slathered with lotion.
The beach itself was covered with seashells that had washed up, and Donna and the girls had a great time collecting them.
Unfortunately litter from passing ships also washed up, and made the beach dirty. Homes damaged from a hurricane in the early 1980's added to the bleakness of the area. Still, there were a few people living there, and for 2 weeks a year every Easter it's quite the party place.
